  1. My favourite Chaplin film, the one I watch over and over, is “The Circus” as I feel it is a perfect realization of the Tramp character. The theatrical background makes it both quirky and other worldly yet relatable. The movie has great gags, great heart and feels “whole”.

For me, it’s a toss up between The Gold Rush (which I remember from a little kid — sooo fondly) and City Lights which just makes me cry every time 🙂

Hi Patricia, I’m happy to say that you are the third (and last) winner of the Chaplin book this month! Thanks so much for entering the contest. I will email you in a minute; if you don’t receive the email, please let me know 🙂 and Happy New Year!

  2. Julia Ricci says:

My favorite Charlie Chaplin film is Modern Times because everything about it is timeless: the comedy, the social messages, and the depiction of the concerns of the human existence. I always notice something new every time I watch it.

  3. Dorothy Winnett says:

I have to say The Little Tramp. He was the every man of his time.

  4. Carl says:

My favorite Chaplin film is The Great Dictator although I must confess I’ve never seen the whole thing. The sections I have seen are brilliant though, and I think he was incredibly brave to make such a bold statement at the time. Thanks for another great book event Annmarie, it’s much appreciated by all of us.
