Mini Tribute: Ray Bolger

Born January 10, 1904 Song-and-Dance Man Ray Bolger!

Ray Bolger started out as a vaudeville dancer in the 1920s, moving on to starring Broadway roles in the 1930s, then signing a film contract with MGM in 1936. Although Bolger appeared in over 30 film and TV roles, he is undoubtedly best remembered (and quite beloved) for his role as The Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz!

I had the THRILL of seeing The Scarecrow’s Hat and Boots at The Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of American History over the summer.  I actually just stood there, mesmerized, staring at the iconic hat and boots! 🙂
