Quotes from

[to his turncoat son]
Taras Bulba: I gave you life. It is on ME to take it away.

Governor: My son is dead, your brother killed by your Cossack lover. Tell your servant to pack your belongings. I'll arrange for an escort to take you out of the city. You cannot stay here after tonight. You'll be taken to Dubno. There you will serve as maid in waiting until you have been trained in the responsibilities of your birth.

Taras: My son, why? Why?
Andrei Bulba: I did what I had to do.
Taras: From the day I plunged you in the river to give you life, I loved you as I loved the steppes. You were my pride! I gave you life. It is on me to take it away from you.

Facts about

Another movie where Yul Brynner has a full head of hair in a few brief scenes. Ironically, when Tony Curtis punches Yul in the abdomen (in the scene where he and Brynner are reunited after two years), Tony's hair piece flops forward, revealing his thinning hair on the back of his head.
Originally began as a Burt Lancaster script before Tony Curtis was given the role.
Tony Curtis plays Yul Brynner's son, but Curtis was only five years younger than Brynner in real life. Curtis is also a "college student" at the real life age of 37 in this movie.
