Chad Hanna (1940) was a Drama - Romance Film directed by Henry King and produced by Darryl F. Zanuck and Nunnally Johnson.

SYNOPSIS

A romantic circus drama starring Fonda as a young man who runs away with the three-wagon circus. He first falls for the daring "high rider," Lamour, who is amused by his affections but eventually leaves. Fonda then falls in love with her equestrian successor, Darnell, and marries her. Filmed in Technicolor, the movie's big-top atmosphere creates a visual spectacle (the red and white rococo wagons, acrobats in pink tights and gold fringe, the blare and glare of the trombones).

Even though she had to do several scenes with them, Linda Darnell was allergic to horses.
Dorris Bowdon was convinced that she had got the role of Caroline, because her husband Nunnally Johnson wrote the screenplay. When she found out Linda Darnell got the role, she considered leaving Johnson.
