Irene Handl Overview:
Character actress, Irene Handl, was born on Dec 27, 1901 in Maida Vale, London. Handl died at the age of 85 on Nov 29, 1987 in Kensington, London .
MINI BIO:
Irene Handl was a plump-faced British comedy actress with a mewling, ingratiatingly friendly tone and a unique way of haranguing her fellow players. She came late to the theater via an acting course in her early thirties, but was an immediate success as the 'to-the-rescue' maid in "George and Margaret" (1940), a role that also set her up for a film career of mothers, cooks and land-ladies, all of which were lent her own touch of eccentricity. After appearing as a guest in a number of comedy series, she became a star in own right on TV as a regular on the series "Educating Archie" (1958-1959) and "For the Love of Ada" (1970-1971).

Fred Kite: I've got to be off. I can't stay here arguing. I've got a lot to do. Report to the Executive, check up on the pickets.
Mrs. Kite: From what I can see, the only time you ever jolly well *do* any work is when you're on strike.
