Legendary actor, Bobby Darin, was born Walden Robert Cassotto on May 14, 1936 in The Bronx, NY. Darin died at the age of 37 on Dec 20, 1973 in Los Angeles, CA .

MINI BIO:

Pop star turned actor whose popularity waned along with the collapse of his marriage (1960-1967) to Sandra Dee. His intensive, explosive acting style was dissipated in vapid comedies, although not before he had been nominated for an Oscar. Darin remarried and was making a new start to an acting career when he died at 39 following heart surgery. Oscar-nominated for Captain Newman MD.

He lost his hair in his early 20s and wore a toupee thereafter.

Seriously campaigned for the role of Tony in "West Side Story". Ironically he would wind up winning his only Golden Globe in 1962 for "Most Promising Newcomer" in a virtual tie with with Richard Beymer, who got the role as Tony and Warren Beatty who had also seriously campaigned for the same role.
