His forceful early acting promise was dissipated in a series of acting roles for Universal-International, but he kept busy, in latter days as a pudgy and balding character star. Lost to TV from 1959-1962 as Shotgun Slade and from 1974 to 1978 as the barman in Police Story. Died from respiratory failure.
