Legendary character actor, Noah Beery, was born Noah Nicholas Beery on Jan 17, 1882 in Kansas City, MO. Beery appeared in over 200 film roles. His best known films include The Mark of Zorro (1920) as Sgt. Pedro Gonzales opposite Douglas Fairbanks, and She Done Him Wrong (1933) as Mae West's flamboyant lover Gus Jordan. He was the father of actor Noah Beery Jr. and the older brother of Academy Award-winning actor Wallace Beery. Beery died at the age of 64 on Apr 1, 1946 in Beverly Hills, CA and was laid to rest in Forest Lawn (Hollywood Hills) Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA.
MINI BIO:
Bluff, burly and often mustachioed, Beery played rough, tough, swarthy villains with strong personalities. He was at his best in silent films although his crackling tones adapted well to sound. He died of a heart attack at exactly the same age as his slightly more prestigious brother, Wallace, with whom he had worked as a chorus boy in musicals at the turn of the century.
