Veda Ann Borg had a cynical air, working hard through the 1930s and 1940s playing a succession of sluts, double-crossers, gangster's molls, blowzy waitresses, faithless wives and generally blondes who had seen better days. Her career was disrupted in 1939 by a car crash; the injuries from which entailed plastic surgery and ten operations. She was married to director Andrew V. McLaglen (second of two husbands)) from 1946 to 1958.
