MINI BIO:
Sharp-featured American actor with Donald Sutherland mouth, in later years buried beneath a bushy beard. Almost entirely cast in westerns (the name may have had something to do with it: he was christened after the capital of the state, Colorado, in which he was born), he at first played lean, mean and sneaky characters. But, after his vengeful sheriff in Bonnie and Clyde, he got away from all that, helped by a stint in TV's The Dorris Day Show, and reappeared as benevolent westerners, in harmony with their surroundings. Had his first leading role in 1976 in Guardian of the Wilderness.
