Before entering the film business he was, for a time, a professional boxer.

He did the stunt work and doubled for Bill Williams on "The Adventures of Kit Carson" (1951) television series.

Best known as a stuntman and regarded by many of his colleagues as one of the toughest men in the business (although in The Three Stooges short Punchy Cowpunchers (1950) he was beaten up and knocked through a window by Christine McIntyre).
