Exquisitely beautiful, dark-haired (initially blonde) American socialite actress, sister of Constance Bennett. She gave her best performances in several Fritz Lang films of the forties, but her later film appearances were restricted after a shooting scandal involving her agent and her third (of four) husband, Walter Wanger - under whose auspices she did most of her best and most intense work.
