Zeb Calloway: Grabs. White men don't see nothing pretty unless they want to grab it. The more they grab, the more they want to grab. It's like a fever and they can't get cured. The only thing for them to do is to keep on grabbin' until everything belongs to white men and then start grabbin' from each other. I reckon injuns got no reason to love nothing white.

Zeb Calloway: Boone, this is Teal's father, Chief Red Horse. Chief Red Horse wants to see you on account he wants to know how much you're gonna pay for his daughter.
Boone Cardell: Pay for Teal?
Zeb Calloway: You married her, didn't ya? He gets paid.
Boone Cardell: Well, I reckon that's the custom.
Zeb Calloway: Well, yes and no. In this particular case, it's yes.

Zeb Calloway: I remember once there being a trapper named Parker. He run smack into a big grizzly bear. The bear sure made a mess out of Parker before we killed it. Ripped one of his ears clear off. But this child just happened to have a needle and some of this deer sinew, just like we got here. Yeah, while his ear was still hot, I picked it up and sewed it back on his head. And it growed most as good as ever.

Zeb Calloway: I said growed most as good as ever. Not hardly. It seems I sewed Parker's ear on backwards. Yeah, he hated me until the day he died, on account of every time he heared a rattlesnake, he'd turn the wrong direction and step smack into it!

Rusty Davis: [Meeting Wes for the first time] You're new, ain't ya'?
Wes Merritt: Yeah.
Rusty Davis: Got two bits?
Wes Merritt: Sure.
Rusty Davis: Gimme'.
Rusty Davis: [Takes his money, then turns to Booker] Okay, let him have a look.
Booker Davis: [Pulls up his pant leg, revealing his scarred and mangled right leg] You ever see anything like that before?
Wes Merritt: [Slightly shocked] Sure is the worst lookin' leg *I've* ever seen.
Booker Davis: Twenty years rodeoin' done that. Leg busted nine times, kneecap five, and the ankle four.
Jeff McCloud: Booker's got just about the most busted leg in the world.
Booker Davis: Nobody'll ever beat it unless they jump off one of them New York skyscrapers.
Rusty Davis: Last time Booker broke it, doctors wanted to cut it off.
Booker Davis: It was up in Denver.
Rusty Davis: He got right off the operating table, got some crutches and headed for New Mexico in our pickup truck.
Booker Davis: That night a big blizzard come up and I had to pull into one of them there motels. Had no sooner got in bed than my leg started hurtin' - got to hurtin' pretty bad. Finally I got up and pushed my bed over to the window and opened it and stuck my leg out. Pretty soon the leg froze up and the pain went away. Next mornin' I got up and thawed it out in front of a stove, drove on to Santa Fe. I won four firsts that day!
