Beau Brummell (1954) was a Drama - Biographical Film directed by Curtis Bernhardt and produced by Sam Zimbalist.

SYNOPSIS

Lavishly told story of George Bryan Brummel, a commoner born in the era of Napoleon who uses wit, brilliance, and sartorial flair to align himself with the future King George IV. Lush settings in authentic locations and Taylor in Regency costume make this an appealing eyeful. The 1924 silent version starred John Barrymore.

Facts about

The film had troubles with the US censor, the Production Code Administration because of the apparent justification of the immoral relationship between the Prince Regent and Mrs Fitzherbert, because a steward at a gentlemen's club had the manner of a 'sex pervert', because the Prince checks the gender of a dog and use of the word 'damn'. Changes were made but the running time remained the same.
