SYNOPSIS
Losey's remake of Fritz Lang's German classic brings the story to Los Angeles. An obsessive man, whose compulsions play out in the murder of little girls, raises the fears of an entire community. The police, under heavy pressure from the populace, set out to find the killer, while the underworld, under pressure from police raids resulting from the investigation, organize their own search for the man. When the underworld catches him first, it is the murderer's turn to feel terror, as this frightened, unstable man is put through an informal trial to determine his fate.
