To Catch a Thief Overview:
To Catch a Thief (1955) was a Crime - Mystery Film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and produced by Alfred Hitchcock.
The film was based on the novel of the same name written by David Dodge published in 1952.
SYNOPSIS
Hitchcock Lite describes this detour into comedy-suspense. Grant plays a (supposedly) retired jewel thief who finds himself once again under suspicion when a rash of jewel heists hits the aristocrats of Monaco. He woos elegant American heiress Kelly, and, as she tempts him with her jewelry and her charms, they pursue the thief to clear Grant's name. Famously sexy, with swirling kisses, fireworks, and come-hither dialogue.

Facts about
There are subliminal shots of a black cat the first few times that John Robie (Cary Grant) appears. John's nickname is "the cat" because of his stealth ability.
For the scene between Robie and the insurance agent, when they talk about the cook's sensitive hands, the German version of the movie differs completely from the original. In English, Robie notes she once strangled a German general without a sound, while in German, he says she once caught a lion escaped from a circus with her bare hands.
