An Affair to Remember Overview:

An Affair to Remember (1957) was a Drama - Romance Film directed by Leo McCarey and produced by Jerry Wald.

SYNOPSIS

In this legendary tearjerker that served as the female touchstone in Sleepless in Seattle, the world's most eligible bachelor (Grant) is set to marry an heiress. But unfortunately for his bride-to-be, while he's traveling alone on a luxury liner, he meets Kerr and realizes he's engaged to the wrong woman. McCarey and Grant in a sentimental mood. First made by McCarey in 1939 as Love Affair with Dunne and Boyer, later remade as Love Affair (1994) with Beatty and Bening.

Facts about

Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant improvised many of their scenes throughout filming, and a number of lines that made it to the final cut of the film came from the actors' improvisation.

In the "50th anniversary" DVD release, one of the bonus features is a Movietone News piece about the shipboard premiere of the movie aboard the S.S. Constitution, identified in the newsreel as the location for filming.

A Bollywood film with the title Mann starring Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala was inspired by this movie.
