Peter Sellers reportedly wanted to have her replaced in the movie Only Two Can Play (1962) but was rebuffed by director Sidney Gilliat. She earned some of the best reviews in the movie.
Her husband, Sir Geoffrey Adams Shakerley, 6th Baronet, remarried after her suicide in 1968. He wed Elizabeth Georgiana Anson.
Hobby: poetry, some of which was published.
Making her final movie Interlude (1968/I) in the summer of 1967, the movie was released the following year. She went on to posthumously win the National Board of Review award.
