In a 2005 interview, Marie said that Francois Truffaut was her first love and that she thinks he was in love with her too during the time they were filming of Shoot The Piano Player (1960) and although they never had an affair they remain close friends until Truffaut's death in 1984.
Since 2001, she's been active in the organization UNICEP, which works to fight against multiple sclerosis, which she suffers from.
