MINI BIO:
You really couldn't miss Hope Emerson in films. About as wide as a barn door and with eagle-like features, she was also 6'2" tall. A vaudeville and Broadway star of the 1920s and 1930s, she was commandeered by the cinema in post-war years and was sometimes cast as fearless pioneering frontier women (Indians beware!). She was even more effective as the death-dealing masseuse in "Cry of the City" and the sadistic prison matron in "Caged". She died from a liver ailment.
