Edward Platt Overview:
Character actor, Edward Platt, was born Edward Cuthbert Platt on Feb 14, 1916 in Staten Island, NY. Platt died at the age of 58 on Mar 19, 1974 in Santa Monica, CA and was cremated and his ashes scattered at sea.
MINI BIO:
Neat, sturdy American actor with graying hair and trim mustache, a former dance-band vocalist who turned to acting in his thirties. Became a more than useful support - for some, perhaps too useful! - to the stars of minor "A" budget studio (mainly Universal) films of the 1950s before drifting into television and a long run (as Ed Platt) as the spy chief in the comedy series Get Smart. Died from a heart attack.

Edward Platt Quotes:
Mrs. Amelia Tarbell:
You go get the luggage. Be careful with the fresh eggs. They're wrapped in paper.
Ben Tarbell: Yes, dear.
Mrs. Amelia Tarbell: Oh, and Ben?
Ben Tarbell: Yes, dear?
Mrs. Amelia Tarbell: I want you to write a letter to the president of this railway. There were men smoking in the parlor car. Disgraceful! I've taken his number.
Ben Tarbell: Yes, dear.
[the Sheriff warns Jim about the brothers of a murderous Deputy Sheriff Jim killed in self-defense]
Sheriff J.C. Marston: When they hear about this, they're going to come looking for you.
Jim Slater: Seems logical.
Sheriff J.C. Marston: If it's your idea to shoot it out with them, you're going to lose.
Jim Slater: Could be.
Sheriff J.C. Marston: And even if you beat 'em, you're going to lose... because I'm going to hang the man that wins.
Azor the High Priest: Empty! Just as all the others. The bees have deserted us.
Demetrios: Strange.
Azor the High Priest: Each morning of my life I have awakened to the singing of birds. Now only silence greets the day. Perhaps it is instinct, call it what you will, but they *sense* something, something evil. A strange breeze now rises with every outgoing tide, blowing dead leaves out toward the open sea. The humblest insects seem to know it carries them, not to destruction, but to survival. Even the seeds forsake their mother soil. All nature senses that the end is near. Man alone turns deaf ears to nature's warnings.
