Danny Thomas Overview:

Legendary actor, Danny Thomas, was born Amos Alphonsus Muzyad Yakhoob on Jan 6, 1914 in Deerfield, MI. Thomas died at the age of 77 on Feb 6, 1991 in Los Angeles, CA and was laid to rest in Saint Jude Hospital Grounds Cemetery in Memphis, TN.



He was honored with one star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Television. Danny Thomas's handprints and footprints were 'set in stone' at Grauman's Chinese Theater during imprint ceremony #106 on Jan 26, 1954. In addition, Thomas was inducted into the TV Hall of Fame . Thomas was never nominated for an Academy Award.

According to ex-"The Danny Thomas Show" (1953) co-star, Angela Cartwright, she said in an interview about her future TV boss, Irwin Allen, who in turn was a huge fan of Thomas' show, who also got her to audition for a brand new show, that eventually wound up to be "Lost in Space" (1965), which was based on the novel, The Swiss Family Robinson.

In 1944, he volunteered to go overseas with Marlene Dietrich's USO Troop.
