Andrew Tombes Overview:

Character actor, Andrew Tombes, was born on Jun 29, 1885 in Ashtabula, OH. Tombes died at the age of 90 on Mar 17, 1976 in New York City, NY .

MINI BIO:

Bald American actor, a great gnome of a man whose upper lip was almost non-existent, dwarfed by a distance between nose and mouth that gave him an aspect of Macchiavellian glee. Tombes once wanted to be an acrobat and was a star baseball player in his twenties. But, following World War I, he became a vaudeville and musical-comedy entertainer - then, with the approach of middle-age, moved into film character roles in which he was equally likely to be genial or grasping as undertaker, insurance man, agent, school governor, or policeman, giving many of his characters a faintly zany slant.
