Legendary actress, Mabel Normand, was born Mabel Ethelreid Normand on Nov 10, 1892 in Staten Island, NY. Normand died at the age of 37 on Feb 22, 1930 in Monrovia, CA .

MINI BIO:

Bright, bubbling, dark-eyed brunette, the most talented and individual of America's silent screen comedians, with a great and deservedly devoted public following from pre-World War I times to the early 1920s. Also directed, or co-directed, often without credit, many of her two-reelers. Loved and lost by slapstick producing kingpin Mack Sennett, she died from tuberculosis, her career already ruined by drug addiction and alleged involvement in a murder. Married actor Lew Cody (Louis Cote, 1884-1934).

She was honored with one star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Motion Pictures. Normand was never nominated for an Academy Award.

Mabel Normand Facts
Is depicted in the film Return to Babylon (2012) by actress Morganne.

Writer/Producer Rudy Cecera used some of Mabel's personal possessions as props in his short film Madcap Mabel, which went on to become an Official Selection in four film festivals.

She is credited with throwing cinema's first custard pie in the face. The film is A Noise from the Deep (1913) and the victim was Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle.
