Castle on the Hudson (1940) was a Crime - Drama Film directed by Anatole Litvak and produced by Hal B. Wallis, Anatole Litvak and Samuel Bischoff.

SYNOPSIS

This dark prison drama stars Garfield as a stubborn hood on his way to death row. The reform-minded warden, played by O'Brien, of course, maintains discipline inside the walls of the jail. Meredith's character instigates their failed attempt at escape.

A partially obscured theater marquee in an opening scene of MGM's Tenth Avenue Angel is for this film. "Castle" was originally released in 1940 by Warner Bros. but re-released in 1949, so it kind of receives an advance re-release plug, albeit a quick one, in a rival studio's film.
