Actor, C. Aubrey Smith, was born Charles Aubrey Smith on Jul 21, 1863 in London, England. Smith died at the age of 85 on Dec 20, 1948 in Beverly Hills, CA and was laid to rest in St Leonard Churchyard Cemetery in Hove, East Sussex, England.
Sir C. Aubrey Smith was a tall, stately, aristocratic-looking English actor with bristling moustache. He began his career in England before heading to Hollywood in 1931, where he quickly became the doyen of the English acting community. He often organized their cricket matches in between a hectic acting life, appearing in films such as Romeo and Juliette, Rebecca, and And Then There Where None. In 1944 was knighted by King George VI. He died of pneumonia with his final film, 1949's big screen adaption of Little Women, still yet to be released.
