Trixie Friganza

Trixie Friganza

Afflicted with arthritis the year after she retired.

After divorcing theatrical manager, Charles A. Goettler, she described herself as "the only Irish actress with a Spanish name and a German husband".

Even though it became very painful for her to get out and about, she frequently traveled to veterans hospitals during World War II to entertain wounded soldiers.

Known most of her career as an actress with a rather generous figure, when she made her stage debut in "The Pearl of Pekin" on 23 October, 1889 she was described as tall and sylph.

Remembered for the song "No Wedding Bells for Me".

Was famous for her generosity toward her less fortunate associates.
