A sea-lover who had lived in Hove, East Sussex, since 1958, Morgan ran a small hotel there for 16 years and spent an increasing amount of time as a property developer in Brighton and Hove, rather than taking acting roles away from his home and family.
He worked as a clerk at Lloyd's of London before winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Nephew of English actor Verne Morgan (1900-1984).
Served for two years in the army but was invalided out.
Won a scholarship to RADA.
