Suchitra Sen

Retired from the film industry in 1978 and has since gone into seclusion. As a devotee of the Ramakrishna Mission, she has immersed herself in meditation and prayer and outside of her home, she has confined her visits to Belur Math (the mission's headquarters).

She and Uttam Kumar formed one of the most enduring romantic screen pairs during the golden-era of Bengali cinema, starring in many romantic melodramas together.

The first Indian actress to receive an award in an international film festival, Suchitra received the Best Actress award for Saat Pake Bandha (1963) at the Moscow Film Festival.

The most popular actress that Bengali Cinema has ever seen. Her legacy is continued through her daughter Moon Moon Sen and granddaughters Raima Sen and Riya Sen.
