Sammy McKim

Both he and brother David graduated with Bachelor of Arts Degrees from the Los Angeles Art Center.

Brothers of Lydia McKim, Harry McKim and Peggy McKim.

Came out of retirement to help create the first souvenir map of Disneyland Paris.

Earned his first extra job in 1935 and was paid $5.

Earned the Distinguished Service Cross medal during the Korean War after being shot down between friendly and enemy lines while on a combat mission.



His wife and his brother David McKim's wife were sisters.

Sammy's son, Matt McKim, also became an artist and landed a position with Walt Disney Imagineering, working extensively on Disneyland Paris projects. Sammy himself lent his talents to projects for California's Disneyland, sketching Frontierland and Main Street. He has the distinction of creating the first souvenir map of Disneyland as well.

Son Brian is a former Disney artist.

Started out as a child actor and auditioned for the voice of Pinocchio in Disney's animated film Pinocchio (1940).

Turned down director John Ford after being offered a support lead in the Tyrone Power/Maureen O'Hara film The Long Gray Line (1955) so he could become an artist.
