Daughter Colleen Paige (by his second wife, actress JoAnne Ludden) has been a professional animal behaviorist and dog trainer since the late 1980s.
In 1970 he became a deputy supervisor in Los Angeles.
Paige was a graduate of West Point and intended to make the army his career before he got into the acting business.
