In addition to his mother, his brother Dave was also a police officer with the Port Authority of NY & NJ Police assigned to the PATH railroad in Jersey City, NJ.
Made his debut with the New York Philharmonic in April 2003 in the role of Leonardo, in the concert staging of Berlioz's opera Beatrice and Benedict.

Was nominated for the 2005 Tony Award (New York City) for Actor in a Drama for "Twelve Angry Men".
Won Broadway's 1989 Tony Award as Best Actor (Play) for "Lend Me a Tenor." He has also been Tony-nominated for four other performances: in 1961, as Best Supporting or Featured Actor (Dramatic) for "The Rape of the Belt," in 1984, for Best Actor (Featrured Role - Play) for George Bernard Shaw's "Heartbreak House," and twice as Best Actor (Play), in 1987 for George Bernard Shaw's "You Never Can Tell" and in 1996 for "Moon Over Buffalo."
