The Mayor of London asked him to serve as the "Ambassador of Ireland" to the 2003 St. Patrick's Day Festival. With a budget of over $800,000, it will be the biggest St. Patrick's Day Festival ever held in London. Mr. Toibin was also the guest of honour at the Mayor's dinner to be held on the 16th of March 2003.
