As of 2008, he is one of only eight surviving credited cast members of Gone with the Wind (1939).
In April 2006, Kuhn was an honored guest at the SunDeis Film Festival at Brandeis University. He gave a lecture on his work in Hollywood and later joined Jesse L. Martin, S. Epatha Merkerson, Margaret O'Brien, Celeste Holm, and others as presenters of student film awards.

The only male actor to have appeared with Vivien Leigh in both Gone with the Wind (1939) and A Streetcar Named Desire (1951). Played Melanie Wilkes' son in GWTW and the sailor who helps Blanche on the streetcar in 'Desire.'.
