Born in Warsaw, Poland, from Catholic Polish nobility. Her father was a high-ranking civil servant with much land and many horses; her great-grandfather fought in the Napoleonic wars; her mother was an archaeologist.
In December 1967 she married Franco-Canadian billionaire Jean-Louis Dessy in Chelsea, London. Separated after three months of marriage.
