Considered Australia's first international star, she worked for Universal until she walked off the lot. Her career in America never recovered so she returned to Australia and co-produced and starred in a resounding hit, Jewelled Nights (1925).
In the year 2000 The The Australian Film Institute named their equivalent of the Oscars The "lovelys" in her honor.
