Daughter of actress Hazel Bainbridge.

Ex-sister-in-law of Simon Williams.

Gave birth to an out-of-wedlock child, eventually named Chris Linde, whom she was forced to give up for adoption, and who later sought her out when he took his story to the newspapers.

Has usually been romantically involved with men much younger than her. Her third husband, actor Richard Willis, was 18 years her junior. A more recent partner, actor Mark Noble, was 20 years younger.



Her autobiography, "Game Plan; A Modern Woman's Survival Kit" was released on hardcover in 1990 by Sidgwick & Jackson.

Her father, John Carroll, was an RAF flying instructor; her mother, Hazel Bainbridge, was an actress. She lived mostly in boarding schools growing up due to her parents' long absences. Her younger sister, Belinda Carroll (born 1945), is also an actress.

Lives alone in a 17th-century cottage in the Blackdown Hills in Somerset with her cat Perdita. [2008]

Married and divorced three times, her son Dickon came from her first marriage to an actor she has repeatedly refused to name. Dickon is a set designer for The British Actor's Theatre Company which Kate founded in 1987.
