Had two roles in Frankenstein (1931). He played Dr. Waldman and was the man who came out in the prologue to warn movie-goers that the film might be too much.
His wife and son predeceased him.
Stage: Played Van Helsing in the 1927 Broadway production of "Dracula", with Bela Lugosi playing the Count.
The 1910 U.S. Census and his California death certificate both say that Van Sloan was born in Minnesota.
