Attended the University of Southern California and studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Died less than two months after the death of her son John Ritter.

Ex-mother-in-law of Nancy Morgan.

Grandmother of Jason Ritter, Carly Ritter, Tyler Ritter and Stella Ritter.

Mother of actor John Ritter and Tom Ritter.



Mother-in-law of Amy Yasbeck.

She appeared in a few "B" westerns opposite husband Tex Ritter and later became an official greeter for the Grand Ole Opry.

She suffered a stroke in 1987 and moved to a retirement home two years later.

Son John Ritter contacted the obituaries desk of The London Daily Telegraph to prove his mother, Dorothy Fay Ritter was very much alive. The Telegraph mistakenly published an obituary of his mother, who had not died. He courteously pointed out the mistake and graciously accepted an apology in the form of an article by the Obituaries Editor. [August 2001]
