He began as a child actor (billed as Dick Henderson Jr.) and as an adult, became the comedian Dickie Henderson.
He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen's Honours List for his services to charity and entertainment.
He was the son of the actor Dick Henderson Sr and appeared several times with him.
