A well-known birdwatcher, Oddie wrote "Persecuting Pigeons In Trafalgar Square" and "The Turkey Strangler Song" for ISIRTA.
Became the third person, in the shows history, to have turned away the 'This Is Your Life (1995 TV series) [1995-]' Red Book, in 2001. Nevertheless, he was eventually persuaded by his family and the show then aired on 31st January 2002.

Father of actress Kate Hardie and Bonnie (from his first marriage); and father of Rosie (from his present marriage).
