Barbara Beaird and her family used to vacation in California where one day, she met an agent named Hazel McMillan, who set up a screen test for her which landed Barbara her first role in the Alan Ladd film, The Man in the Net.
She attended Bushnell Way School, a public K-8 school, in Highland Park, California.
