After the war, he used his veterans' benefits to pay for acting lessons at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California. He moved to New York City in 1952.
Alan Grigsby Sues, b 7 Mar 1926 in California, was the son of Melvin G Sues (1901-1990)and Alice Murray (1902-1995). They had two sons, Alan and John Murray Sues, b. 14 Sep 1931 CA d. 11 Apr 2008 CT.
He and a younger brother were brought up in and around San Francisco.
He is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.
He is survived by his friend and administrator, Michael Michaud, and sister-in-law Yvonne Sues. His brother, John predeceased him.
He served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II.
Performed at such clubs as the Reuben Bleu and Blue Angel (both in Manhattan) during his salad days. Also performed comedy partnered with such funny guys as Julius Monk, among others, as well as performing solo.
Remembered for his campy "Peter Pan" on the peanut butter TV commercial.
Son of Peter Sues and Alice Murray Sues. Brother of John Sues.
Studied at the Pasadena Playhouse before making his Broadway debut in the original production of "Tea and Sympathy" in 1953.
Was spotted in the off-Broadway musical revue "The Mad Show" in 1966, and eventually signed for "Laugh-In".
