"Mortis Rex" is set at the Roman Fort of Briga Magna along Hadrian's Wall in Scotland. The name "Briga Magna" actually exists as one reference to a Roman fort found in materials excavated for the Vindolanda archaeological project in Scotland, although no-one knows its original location, or what became of it.
