Stringer Davis

Stringer Davis

Confessed to his wife, Dame Margaret Rutherford, that he was hopelessly infatuated with Sir John Gielgud. Apparently the infatuation was unrequited.

Stringer Davis was married to Margaret Rutherford, an actress who portrayed Miss Marple in several Agatha Christie movies from 1961 to 1965. Mr. Davis almost always played a character they called "Mr. Stringer." Mr. Stringer was not really a character in any of Agatha Christie's novels, but he was written in as a favor to Ms. Rutherford.
