Appeared in a play in 1954 at the Bucks County Playhouse (PA) with actress Grayson Hall and actor Jonathan Harris. Maintained friendship with Hall until Hall's death.

Mother, with Jerry Leiber, of sons Jed Leiber, Oliver Leiber and Jake Leiber.

With Billy Edd Wheeler, Rodgers co-wrote the popular country-western song, "Jackson" ("We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper's sprout..."). Was recorded by Johnny Cash.
