Daughter Nicole Yorkin is a successful television writer/producer of programs "The Education of Max Bickford" (2001), "Judging Amy" (1999), "Ally McBeal" (1997) and "Chicago Hope" (1994).

Directed wife Cynthia Sikes in Arthur 2: On the Rocks (1988) and Love Hurts (1990)

He originally wanted a studio to finance and release his film Twice in a Lifetime (1985) but none were interested. He raised money independently by using his share of Tandem Productions, the TV production company he founded with Norman Lear, as collateral, made the film and released it himself.

He was originally hired to direct 'Myra Breckinridge (1970)' but quit and was replaced by Michael Sarne.
