Facts about

The castle set in Yugoslavia blew up and burned to the ground. It was quite a surprise to the cast and crew. Sydney Pollack immediately grabbed the camera and shot what he could of the burning castle.
Burt Lancaster wore a patch over a good right eye for his character. Peter Falk, having lost his right eye at age 3, wore a glass eye.
Ronald "Butcher" DeFeo Jr. claimed he was watching this movie before he shot his parents and four younger siblings to death in Amityville, NY in 1974.
