Holiday Inn (1942) was a Comedy - Drama Film directed by Mark Sandrich and produced by Mark Sandrich.
SYNOPSIS
Two retiring showmen (Astaire and Crosby) start a New England country inn with the unique and, one would think, self-defeating idea of being open only on national holidays; however, in this delightful fluff-fest, they achieve instantaneous success. Conflicts arise when they fall for the same woman, and sparks fly as fast as their feet in a variety of inventive, holiday-themed song-and-dance productions. Perhaps the best film ever inspired by a song. Berlin's Yuletide chestnut "White Christmas" was introduced in this film in a cozy scene of Big crooning by the trimmed tree. Remade in 1954 with Crosby and Danny Kaye as White Christmas. Other songs include "Happy Holidays," "Be Careful It's My Heart," "Let's Start the New Year Right," and "Let's Say It With Firecrackers."
