MINI BIO:

Annabella was a French star during the twenties and thirties in girl-next-door roles and a favorite of director Rene Clair. She later starred in English-speaking films, first in Britain, then in Hollywood. She married actor Tyrone Power in 1939 (second husband) which fatally interrupted her career. When the marriage ended in divorce in 1948, she returned to France.

According to John Allen, author of a full length article on Annabella in "Films of the Golden Age", Annabella was appearing in her first English-speaking film Wings of the Morning (1937) when she fell for co-star Henry Fonda. He resisted and it took her husband at the time, Jean Murat, to dispel the "rumors".

Daughter, Anne Power, was adopted by Tyrone Power. She was married to the late actor Oskar Werner.

Accepted Academy Award in 1964 on behalf of Patricia Neal.
